Our little life has changed tremendously. I wanted to start blogging again but I don't intend to make these posts very wordy. Just short explanations and/or descriptions of pictures. The intention of this blog is to keep a record of the happenings of our life and the experiences of our family mainly through pictures. On May 25th the Virginia Segreti family made their way out to Kansas City. They arrived on Sunday morning and spent the entire week with Paul and I. We had a really great time despite it raining every day and being sick with the flu. Here are some pictures from the time.

Last week Paul had some work in Topeka, KS. I was able to tag along for the day. We left at 6:30am and arrived about an hour later in the capital of our state. After interviewing a traffic engineer and eating a small breakfast at the local pancake house, we spent the rest of
the day filming the city by car and by air.

The snow melted from last week's freak storm and the buds are finally here to stay (I hope!). Paul and I took some dinner to the local park on Monday and enjoyed a lovely evening.

We constructed a coffee bar in our kitchen. Its so cute and perfect for Paul's machine and cups. I made some scones and muffins to celebrate the first morning with our bar.

We had a wonderful weekend with all the Rogers family up here in the country. It was Bric and Anna's annual bonfire on Saturday and folks came from far and near.

We are home after our long summer adventure! Its taken a few weeks to get back into the swing of things here in Missouri and get our house all set up again. Autumn is here and we are looking forward to bonfires, pumpkins, and Thanksgiving.
Before we left Virginia we hiked the Massanutten Trail on the mountain near my parents. It was a 6 mile hike and it took most of the day. We are home in the good old USA! We arrived on Wednesday evening after a long day of traveling. Its been wonderful spending time with family here in New York before we head out west to our house.
Over the weekend we had the chance to do a couple different activities...
We went apple picking over the weekend at a local farm.

We were able to locate and rent a small apartment for the week that we are in Athens. Its very basic but we didn't need much. The first day Paul went out and got some food and of course flowers. :)

I am writing this from a little cafe in Athens.
After a pretty eventful train ride from Volos we arrived here at 6:00am.

So we are done with the summer sail-away season! Our last group was all German. They were wonderful people to work with and a great way to finish off our time here in Greece.
We are in Volos, Greece now and will head to Athens tomorrow evening. Tonight is the last night on the boat. And so ends our adventure on the Encounter! I'll update when we get to Athens!

Wow...we are finished with group five already! This group was made of one American, a Canadian, two Austrian, and five Germans. Its really cool getting to know people from all over the world. Maybe one day we will do a huge road trip and visit them all! :)

Once again we are back in the harbor of Skopelos. This group was made up of six Germans, one Austrian, and a Swede. The popular language was German so Paul and I doubled our vocabulary by learning two new words! :)
The wind was off and on this week so we didn't sail too much. Spent alot of time swimming, snorkeling and pretty much trying to escape the August heat.

We started out the third sail-away with a new crew member. Jonny is from England and will be here for the next two trips. He is a great guy and always makes us laugh.
This group was from all over....America, Sweden, Holland, Switzerland and Germany. They all learned really quickly and the first day sailing went very well. Ten days flew by and here we are awaiting a new group on Monday.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623982066278454675.post-73230096433941129582012-07-16T07:39:00.002-07:002012-07-16T07:39:49.283-07:00Sail-away #2
Finished up the second sail-away on Friday. This was an all German group. It was a bit challenging as many spoke only a bit of English but we all worked well together and had a great two weeks. Paul and I knew more about sailing so we were able to help instruct people as well as crew the boat. There was not much wind this time so we spent alot of time motoring around the island.

We survived the first two weeks!
Sail-away number one started on a Monday evening. Our first group was amazing. We had two Americans, five Canadians, and two Germans. Paul and I learned how to sail the Encounter along with everyone else. It was a tough but interesting time and by the end we had it figured out pretty well.
Here is the group with us on the boat....

So....we have been in Greece for over two weeks now. We pretty much have been busy every day since we arrived. Its been hard to get any time to update the blog. I have a few minutes this evening to get some pictures up and try to give you an idea of what we have been up to.
