Anna (Favorite Neighbor) Birthday

Paul sister and my sister-in-law, Anna, turned 23 this past Sunday. Brown and green streamers were taped up and we got some pink and white balloons as well. We attached the balloons to a hanging basket flower pot. It looked quite festive. Caleb took most of the following pictures so I can't take the credit. :)

Anna looked beautiful....

Cute little family. :)

The yummy cake that Ruthy made....

Nani and Papa came for the party too. It was so nice to see them!

The rest of the pictures are of little Addie....she was so cute that day. Like every day!!

Aunt Sarah got home from HyVee and little Addie rushed to her.

I snapped this cute shot of Addie walking with her Uncle Paul. :)
Happy Wednesday y'all.

My Papa

Golden years are passing by,
These happy golden years.
-Laura Ingalls Wilder

I was a daddy's girl.

Being the only daughter of twelve children you had to expect that. Looking back at my childhood my dad was one of my best friends. I don't think we realize how much someone has an impact on you until they are no longer around. Thats my dad. He is just a laid back, simple guy....but someone that leaves an impression on you. Someone that people remember.

He has been a propane/oil truck driver for over 20 years now. He was the one who taught me what it was to "bleed" a propane tank, how to pump the propane, roll up the hose properly, and print out the customers tickets.
Mondays were the greatest days of my life. Those were the days my dad could bring us kids with him for the day. I remember in the cold days of winter I would make a thermos of hot chocolate and head out to the road to wait for the truck. I loved climbing up in the cab. It always made me feel important looking down at all the cars from that high perch. We would drive for a long time all the while I was peppering my dad with questions. He knew everything, in my mind. I was sure he would have an answer to any problem. I learned so much those long days in his truck. I miss it. Just sitting here writing this brings back all those memories and it make my heart ache for the past.

There are too many things to list about my dad that makes him a great man. I have compiled some pictures of him to give you a little peep into his life.

He has three brothers....then

....and now....

He loves his wife of 32 years....

He is the father of a nation....
He is a fabulous grandpa.....

Is proud of his sons in the military.....

A truck driver...

Shoots guns.....

Loves food....

Loves and jealousy guards his binoculars....

Gets bored at museums while my mom reads EVERY sign.....
Loves the beach.....

And loves me too.....

Happy Fathers Day Papa.....miss you very much. Much love.

Doughnuts

Yesterday Mary and I decided to make doughnuts. She is visiting for a week(along with Issac) and we wanted to try this recipe I found.

They were really light and very good. We made cinnamon & sugar coated, chocolate glaze and regular glaze.

Here are some pictures of our creations.....

Mary took these two pictures of frying the doughnuts.

Happy Wednesday.

Reservations @ 8:00pm

Rachel Rogers recently had her 17th birthday. Luke Rogers had also turned 27 at the end of May. We all decided to go out for dinner to celebrate the the day these fine people were born.

The destination was The Elephant Bar a restaurant serving American, western, and pan-pacific dishes. The food is good and the coffee is excellent. We made the reservations for the outside veranda. Beautiful spot.

The entire Rogers clan (expect my favorite neighbor, Anna) plus their Aunt Jill was present. It made a wonderfully large party of 16.

We had a fabulous time talking, telling stories, laughing, and just having a good time. We were there for a couple hours. Awesome night. :)

Enjoy the following pictures of our evening:
